What is aligner therapy?
Clear Tooth Alignment
Aligner therapy has become very popular over the past decade. There are may different companies that provide this product with Invisalign and Clear Correct being the most popular. There are a number of considerations when choosing aligner therapy for your orthodontic treatment. During your consultation, a thorough evaluation and discussion of the aligner process is necessary for patients to understand and achieve optimal results.
- Invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces
- Series of clear, removable, custom-made aligners
- Uses no metal wires or brackets
- Custom-made for comfort
Things to Consider
Certain tooth movements can be difficult to achieve with aligner therapy and therefore, compromise treatment results. In certain cases, fixed braces or a combination of braces and aligner therapy may be the primary option. Attachments or buttons are usually placed on the front part of the tooth surface which decreases the aesthetics of the aligners. Aligners must be worn at least 22 hours everyday for them to be effective. Inconsistent wear of the aligners will compromise treatment time and results.
Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign uses a series of custom made aligners. The aligners are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you simply wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You simply pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks until your treatment is complete.
